Everyone loves the sunshine. It is the giver of life. But it is also an inexhaustible source of power - solar power. You can make your own electricity and use it to reduce your energy spend, or do what I did and get off the grid completely.
I can tell you there is tremendous freedom in making your own electricity and getting off the grid. No bills. No longer depending on others for power. You are completely self sustained. For most, the initial investment of solar is just too steep.
However, you can implement in stages and gradually reduce your dependency. This is the most common approach for urban folks. Cabins and cottagers generally implement in a big bang approach. One approach to lessen the initial investment is to make your own solar panel.
You do not need our own silicon solar cell factory to do this. You can readily get all the parts needed locally and from some other known sources. Even if you are not that handy with tools, this project is easily doable for the beginner. All you need to do is follow clearly laid out steps on where to get your supplies and exactly what to do.
By making your own solar panel, you will save hundreds of dollars - per panel. Most installations of solar panel have more than one panel. If you take that into consideration your savings could be substantial. Making your own solar panel is a fun project. Once you have all the parts (you can get most of your parts locally) the assembly is quick. The biggest delay will be for the parts you have to order and get shipped.
As with anything, if you fail to plan, you are planning to fail. That is why I encourage you to match your skill level in making your own solar panel with available information.
And enjoy building your solar panel.
